Coronavirus!

Well, it’s here, folks. San Francisco has been sending text alerts recommending cancellation of non-essential group events for the next two weeks, the buses and trains seem to be carrying about half the usual riders, and patients are rushing to wash their hands as soon as they step into the office. How bad will it really be? Only time will tell for sure. But for now, we know that a lot of people are being asked to stay home, people are nervous to come out, and there is a lot of ambient fear in the air. What can you do? For sure, follow the CDC guidelines of frequent hand washing, staying home if you are sick, etc. And also, from our holistic health point of view, remember the basics. What would do if you are looking to fight or avoid any kind of harsh virus? Nutritional supplementation can make a big difference, especially specific anti-viral supplements such as L-Lysine and immune supporters such as zinc, vitamin D and glandulars (especially those containing thymus and spleen). Homeopathic remedies such as the Earth remedy (from NET) is also a great immune supporter, not only from the “physical” point of view, but from the emotional and energetic impact of being around a lot of other people who are stressed out. (Speaking of nutrition, please don’t buy your supplements from amazon! The sourcing can be really shady, and for supplements, you want top quality and maximum freshness.) I’m happy to consult with patients by phone concerning nutrition, and also am more than happy to ship supplements to you if you are stuck at home for whatever reason. (Don’t forget, my actual main hobby is basically mailing things, so… it really is fun for me.) And also, don’t forget about the nefarious nocebo effect. It is the evil twin of the placebo effect! With the placebo effect, people get better from just believing that they took or did something that will make them better. With the nocebo effect, people get sick by believing that they are or will be sick! The fear alone can give you symptoms and make you sick. If you are stressed and alone, don’t forget about F.A.S.T. (www.firstaidstresstool.com), which is a powerful technique for helping your body move through stress! I can’t say it enough: it works. When people actually use it, they often come back to me and excitedly exclaim, “THIS SHIT WORKS!” So use it. And of course, if you can make it in to the office, there is no finer stress reducing technique than NET (Neuro Emotional Technique), and there is no finer immune system tune-up technique than NIS (Neurological Integration System). The benefits to immune function are the number one reason that I chose to focus on NIS in my practice. And don’t forget, as with any virus, this new coronavirus doesn’t take down everyone. It’s more about the resiliency of the immune system than the thing itself, so do your best to help your immune system stay strong! -DK
