Time Traveling with NET

Can you really time travel with NET? Well, I mean, what is time, anyway? Everything everywhere all at once and all that? 🤷🏻‍♂️😬

Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and now have a view of a bigger chunk of my life than I ever could have when I was younger. But I think about that stuff, and I think about what messages I wish I could send to younger me. What got me thinking about that was running into some NET old-timers at the NEXT seminar in Carlsbad last week.

I’ve never been good about taking pictures of myself with friends So naturally, I didn’t take any pictures with friends at NEXT! But I should have. Thinking back, I wish I had taken a picture with Dr. Brent Babcock, from Oklahoma. Dr. Babcock was one of the very first “advanced NET doctors” who I met when I first started coming around in 1999. I was so intimidated to workshop with these any of these advanced practitioners, but I thought, “Someday…” :-)

Early on, at some NET seminar, I ended up partnered up with Dr. Babcock. I nervously looked at his name badge and saw that he had been to 21 NET seminars (!) compared to my 5. I said to him, “Do you even have anything left to clear?!” I thought, what could I possibly do for you?! He just laughed and said, “I may have been here 21 times, but I’ve been a different person every time, and so I have different problems to work on!” This made me feel better, and I’ve thought about that ever since.

1999

My first year with NET - back when I had hair! An unnatural redhead.

So, what made me think about that is that when I looked down at my own name badge, I saw that I was now in that advanced practitioner territory myself! I’ve now been to 19 NET Basics, and if you add the rest (Advanced, NEXT, Success) it adds up to more than 32! How do I feel? Am I also a new person with new challenges? Of course! When I was a bright-eyed young practitioner, I thought of healing as a linear process. I thought it was a straight line from “problem” to “solution.” I had no idea that healing - and life itself - is a meandering journey, with very few straight lines. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Well, fortunately for this blog post, I did manage to get one picture from the NEXT weekend! Here I am at a fancy dinner with fellow NET practitioner Dr. Maggie Mauer, from Miami.

2022

Older, wiser and balder. Grateful for NET!

23 years of NET has not turned me into a glowing orb with no problems! But it did free me up to turn my life towards a different trajectory than my old autopilot would have sent me on! I’m grateful to past me for setting out on the path, and I hope that past me can feel some love and encouragement coming from future me!

Nowadays, as I’m working with clients, I do sometimes feel like we’re doing a form of time travel. Traveling into the past to heal old wounds which then have a ripple effect into the present and beyond into the future. It’s pretty fun. And it’s a great honor to have a front seat to witness other people connect with and heal along their own timelines.

Grateful. That’s pretty much all I have to say about that!
